THE AWAKENING
Taj Global Understanding announces the development of “The Awakening,” a unique theatrical stage production which includes the following artistic disciplines: Dance, Music, Traditional Arts, Video, & Visual Arts. Working through the support of US Embassies & Consulates, Taj Global Understanding plans to bring together a cast of artists and performers from underprivileged communities, both rural and urban and of mixed gender, race, & religion, from the following regions: India & Pakistan. Utilizing its Creative Arts network in India, TGU will work with highly skilled professionals to created a two hour performance that will result in a 2007-2008 United States tour. Young artist from both nations will assemble in the Satara District of Maharashtra State in Western India, home of Taj Global Understanding’s India Office, where the Production will be rehearsed and refined. Working with Student Exchange partner foundations in the United States, TGU will coordinate a Coast to Coast American tour set up through the Public School System. The cast will participate in community and school exchange projects, in addition to performing “The Awakening.” The international artist will serve as “Youth Ambassadors” to the United States; while “The Awakening” production will serve as a global link between both the United States and a developing South Asia. Taj Global Understanding wishes to help foster growth between America & South Asia, to create dialogues, to open windows, and to create a platform for peace and stability through the Arts.
